- Summer of Design 2009 - New Designers
-

Following on from the success of our new designers showcase last year we are opening our display cases for the summer season for the Summer of Design 2009.
Whether you are fresh out of college, have a small workshop at home, share workshop space with other jewellers or are at the stage where you are thinking of branching out into other shops, this opportunity is for you.
This summer we are dedicating space inside Plush Jewellery for new designers.
Your jewellery will be shown alongside other designers that are new to Plush as well as established jewellery designers,
this may evolve into the chance to have a permanent showcase within our
gallery.
Plush Jewellery is all about exciting our customers with handmade, bespoke
and well designed jewellery with a unique feel. We offer a personal connection
to the designer allowing our customer to choose their style and set
themselves apart from the high street.

- Torz Cartwright

- 'Torz Cartwright established her jewellery design business at the beginning of 2006 with a desire to create contemporary pieces of jewellery, which express her deep love of nature.
Always one to fill her pockets with pebbles from the beach or feathers found on woodland walks, Torz draws from the beauty of the natural world to produce unique pieces in silver and 18ct gold.'

- Chris Hawkins

- 'An early interest in sculpture, and a fascination with the minature led me into jewellery making. My work combines the highest level of craftsmanship with a sense of wonder and discovery, as the closer and longer you look, the more you will see. While highly informed by fashion my work is also tactile, pleasing to both the hand and eye. In recent years I have become increasingly known for, and concentrated on, collections for men. I was trained in the traditional goldsmiths apprenticeship.'

- Gemma Clarke

- 'After completing my studies at Sir John Cass University and working for several well-known and established designers, I now have my own collection. Inspired by organic forms and textures, I explore these influences in silver, using 18ct gold, pearls and vibrant semi-precious stones to caputre and reveal the beauty in the natural world around us.'

- Dorothy Borland

- 'Dorothy studied Fashion Design at Galashiels in Scotland and has always had a keen interest in designing and manufacturing in a variety of mediums.
Her latest pieces use Dichroic glass to produce a range of jewellery, each hand crafted to produce a unique design of vibrant colours and patterns. The range splits into two techniques where different fusing temperatures produce either a fully fused piece encased in a glass capping piece or tack fusing which creates a multi dimensional effect standing proud of a piece of backing glass.'

I am currently producing designs incorporating forging, woven wire and applied texture techniques some of these highlighted with oxidization or gold foil.' more info
- Regina Aradesian

- 'Regina is an award winning designer maker of exquisite enamelled jewels. Her work explores the intricacies of the cellular world observed through a microscope combined with traditional Armenian patterns.' more info
- Ruth Facey

- ''I have worked as a jeweller for over 30 years, combining output from my workshop with teaching to all levels – from tertiary to university – and a number of part time jobs in the arts sector. My original degree was the Diploma in Art & Design, studying at Central School of Art, London and I subsequently gained specific educational qualifications.
I added a Masters Degree in Design History and Material Culture, from Winchester School of Art, which satisfied my long held interests in the wider applications of design in contemporary society.
I am a member of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery.'
