- Harriet Bedford Designer Jewellery at Plush Jewellery

***STOP PRESS*** Harriet
Bedford is going ultra Limited Edition in her work
this year! We're laying our hands on as many pieces
as we can of Harriet's fabulous work but please
bear in mind that if you like what you see and don't
buy it now, there's a good chance you'll be crushingly
disappointed if you wait..
The daughter of a lawyer and a carpenter, Harriet
Bedford was born in Bristol in 1977.
She worked as a bad stand up comic yet somehow managed
to make it to the semi-finals of Channel 4's "So
You think You're Funny" competition at the
Edinburgh Festival in 1996 (Tommy Tiernan won).
She also trained as a Geneticist before deciding
to become a designer in 1998.
In January 2003 she started her business designing
and making beautiful silver jewellery. The inspiration
for her collections and one off pieces have ranged
from bunny rabbits and bulldogs to wings, snowflakes
and butterflies.
Harriet Bedford jewellery has been stocked in many
galleries across the country as well as prestigious
stores such as Selfridges
and Liberty.
Harriet's pieces can be seen gracing the cuffs of
psychological illusionist Derren
Brown and all-round national treasure Stephen
Fry.
In 2004 Harriet was selected by the New Entrepreneur
Scholarship to study at Babson
College, America's most successful business
school. After this she was invited to the Treasury
to talk about her experiences. She attended a reunion
of the New Entrepreneurs in 2007.
In November 2005 Harriet won the Matthew Searle
award for entrepreneurism. She has also recently
been shortlisted for the Kayman
Silver Design Award.
As well as designing jewellery and other things,
Harriet Bedford also names pedigree kittens. These
names have included Ordinary, Darkfur the Magnificent
and Mr Doyle. There was no reasoning behind any
of them.
