"I work from my studio in West Sussex and over the years have attended Master Classes in many different aspects of jewellery making and design. In 2006 I was awarded a Grant from the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, funded by the European Union. This project was set up to enable artists to work with craftspeople in France and Italy and to then share these experiences with fellow artists, students and others within their own communities. I was given the opportunity of attending an exhibition in Strasbourg followed by a workshop within the centre of Paris.
My work reflects nature around me - gentle and fluid. Movement, sound and colour are the most important aspects of my designs and my jewellery incorporates other materials such as porcelain, which I fire myself, coloured aluminium, again prepared by me and glass, either in the form of enamelling or kiln fused pieces. I also enjoy working with resin.
My work is handcrafted and I am happy to accept commissions."
Kate Gill first joined us a part of our New Designers scheme at the end of 2008. Her work was so popular with our customers that she has shown with us ever since. We are extremely pleased to be showing Kate's jewellery on an exclusive basis, each piece of jewellery by Kate Gill is handcrafted.
